Nightjar Records, home of singer-songwriter Nath Dresser

Welcome to Nightjar Records, the online home of singer-songwriter Nath Dresser, who lives in Spring Green, Wisconsin and performs regularly throughout the southern portion of the state, and sometimes beyond.

Nightjar Records is basically a cottage industry. So far the recordings released on Nightjar Records have involved Nath and/or Marnie Dresser and have been recorded in Nightjar's modest home studio. The aim is to produce and market simple recordings that present musical or literary material in a manner that’s faithful to the performance and the work itself. In a sense, it’s folk recording, pure and simple. (Think Harry Smith with modern equipment and a fixed address.)

Live music is a high priority here at Nightjar Records. Wherever you live, Nightjar Records urges you to support local musicians and the local venues that feature live local music.

Good news for those of you who've heard and enjoyed Some Kind of Sign: Marnie has been contemplating a sequel, and has written a sonnet that gives voice to Megan, the daughter of Lisa and Jim. She read the poem as a postscript of sorts after our performance at the Fermentation Fest on October 15.

Where will the story go from there? Hard to say. But it does seem that it's beginning to take shape, so stay tuned for more developments. . . .
