Welcome to Nightjar Records, the online home of singer-songwriter Nath Dresser, who lives in Spring Green, Wisconsin and performs regularly throughout the southern portion of the state, and sometimes beyond.

Nightjar Records is basically a cottage industry. So far the recordings released on Nightjar Records have involved Nath and/or Marnie Dresser and have been recorded in Nightjar's modest home studio. The aim is to produce and market simple recordings that present musical or literary material in a manner that’s faithful to the performance and the work itself. In a sense, it’s folk recording, pure and simple. (Think Harry Smith with modern equipment and a fixed address.)

Live music is a high priority here at Nightjar Records. Wherever you live, Nightjar Records urges you to support local musicians and the local venues that feature live local music.

As Nath says . . .
"If it ain't local, it's somewhere else."

Nath Dresser & his Gibson WM-00

January 14, 2010. . . .

It's a new year, and a warm spell is melting off some of the snow. And just a few days ago we had lows in the minus double digits, and highs in the single digits. But I expect Winter's not through with us yet.

Saturday, January 16, the Spring Green General Store will be hosting "A John Prine Afternoon." No, the man himself will not be here. But Scott Stieber, Todd Miller & Laura Burbaugh, and I will be performing roughly four dozen John Prine tunes from 2-5 PM. Scott and I will be swapping songs in two different sets, and Todd & Laura will be playing two sets, too, often with a bit of percussion and bass from Mark and David, two other members of Another Roadside Attraction. all the performers and songs, don't be surprised if the afternoon music runs a little later than usual!

Also, some changes are afoot here; look for new ventures spinning off of Nightjar Records. (More on that in the near future. . . .)
